When activated by the user of the Display Key (a multi-function remote key fob with an LED color display on it), Remote Control Parking pulls the 5 Series into or out of a parking space while the car is unoccupied. During the parking maneuver, this feature brakes for pedestrians or other obstacles in its path. The Display Key can also be used to set a time for activation of the car's interior ventilation system, check the range of the car on the remaining fuel in the gas tank and show the status of the central locking system.

The Stop & Go function will bring the 5 Series to a complete stop if the vehicle ahead stops. Upon application of the accelerator, Active Cruise Control allows the car start moving again. Once there's no longer any nearby slower moving traffic ahead, the cruise control resumes initial speed set by the driver, continuing to use the pre-set selections initially made by the driver.; Frontal Collision Warning in which if the vehicle ahead suddenly brakes, the driver is alerted and if necessary, the brakes are engaged.

Integral Active Steering includes variable ratio front steering and rear wheel steering that turns in coordination with the front steering. When the front wheels are steered into a turn at higher vehicle speeds, the rear wheels slightly pivot in same phase (same direction of the front wheels). This slight rear wheel steering enhances the car's high speed stability. The amount of rear wheel steer varies, based on the angle the front wheels are steered.
